AT THE RESTAURANT

Vamos ver as principais:

APPETIZERS (What you order first – entrada ou aperitivo)

SALADS (Salad is easy, isn’t it?)

MAIN DISHES (The principal dishes – steak/fish, pasta)

SIDE ORDERS (“acompanhamento”)

DESSERT (Fruit, ice cream, pie)

BEVERAGES (coke, wine, beer)

WAITER
WAITRESS

Waiter – Can I take your order now? or Are you ready to order?
You – (faz o pedido se estiver pronto) Yes, I’d like ...
Waiter – (Se você não pediu bebidas) Anything to drink?
You – A _________________, please.
Waiter – (
You – (Se estiver satisfeito) No, that’s all. Thanks.
Waiter – How would you like your steak, sir/madam?
You – Well-done (bem passado) Rare( mal passado) Medium rare (ao ponto)
You – What do you suggest?
Waiter – Would you like dessert?
You – No, thanks. / Yes, I’d like ...
Bom, você comeu, bebeu, está feliz satisfeito. Chegou a hora da dolorosa. Aí você chama o garçon e educadamente diz:
You – I would like the bill, please. (Ou simplesmente: The bill, please)
Ele traz a conta, você paga, agradece, vai embora.
- You can keep the change.
Now look at the menu and the conversation between a “customer” (you) and a “ waiter”.

Waiter – Good morning. May I help you?
You – Good morning. Can I have the menu, please?
Waiter – Here you are.
You – Thank you.
(Some minutes later...)
Waiter – Are you ready to order?
You – Yes, please. I’d like a Grilled Shrimp(*) Chef salad and a Sirloin Steak.(**)
Waiter – How would you like your steak?
You – Well done, plesae.
Waiter – Anything to drink?
You – I’d like a large Coke, please.
Waiter – Anything else?
You – That will be all, thanks. (The waiter goes, brings ou the food, the bevereges and returns)
Waiter – Is everything all right? Would you like to order dessert?
You – Yes, I’d like a Chocolate Mousse Cake, please.
Waiter – I’ll be right back.
(Well, you ate dessert, drank coffee and now it’s time to pay.)
You – Waiter, the bill, please.
Waiter – Here you are, sir.
You – Here you go. Keep the change. Thank you.
Waiter – Thank you, sir.

(*) Shrimp:

(**) Sirloin:
Well, hope it will help you to eat more than hamburgers next time you travel.
See you next, post.
